From TA to Teacher…Gemma’s Excell Story

Published on: Friday, 26th Apr 2024

17Gemma Cushing registered with Excell Supply in June 2012 and was imminently kept busy working in various schools as a teaching assistant for a year then having gained extensive classroom experience was inspired to go on to do her PGCE in Primary Education at Bangor University.

Gemma has recently qualified as a trained Key Stage 2 Teacher and is eager to get back into the classroom so has returned to Excell whilst she seeks a permanent position. Working on supply with Excell means she can start working towards her NQT year, broaden her experience as a teacher and receive CPD training/career support along the way.

She said, “I worked with Excell as a classroom assistant for a year, during which time they were very supportive and encouraging enabling me with a continuous, steady stream of employment. Excell were very supportive with my PGCE application process at Bangor University and I have had no hesitation returning now I am a qualified teacher. I am delighted to once again be associated with Excell”.

Lyndsay said, “Gemma always received excellent feedback when she worked for Excell as a classroom assistant. She completed two long term school placements and they are looking forward to having Miss Cushing back as a teacher!”
