Our Candidates and Schools safety at work is our priority. We continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 closely. Our current guidelines are based on the recommendations of Public Health England.

What precautions should you take?

The following general cold and flu precautions should be taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away
  • wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

When should you self-isolate?

  • If you, or anyone you have had close contact with in the last 14 days, is awaiting testing for a diagnosis or has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • If you, or anyone you have had close contact with in the last 14 days, has visited Hubei province in China, specific lockdown areas in Northern Italy, Iran, Daegu, Cheongdo (Republic of Korea) since 19 February (even if you don’t have symptoms).
  • If you, or anyone you have had close contact with in the last 14 days, have visited other parts of China, South Korea or Northern Italy (anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini), Thailand, Japan, Macau, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia since 19 February, please notify us so we can enquire if you or they have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath.
  • Continue to review this website for updated countries and notify us if you have returned from any of them within 14 days: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public#returning-travellers

What should I do during the 14 day self-isolation period from a work perspective?

If you do need to self-isolate, when you call to notify us, we can explore whether it is possible for you to conduct any work from home or if you should instead stay off the Assignment sick..

If  you need to self-isolate and wish to receive statutory sick pay, please ensure you send us a statement in writing explaining your reasons for self-isolation. We can then check your entitlement to statutory sick pay subject to the eligibility criteria. You may note that the Government has recently released a statement stating that statutory sick pay will be payable from day one: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/sick-pay-from-day-one-for-those-affected-by-coronavirus – we are just getting to grips with this new law but will ensure you are paid in accordance with the law.

If you’re unsure on what to do and wish to remain up to date

Clearly, the spread of this virus is escalating and advice is changing daily. Please ensure you continue to monitor local government websites (such as: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public) and contact your healthcare authority for specific guidance.

Please note that if we become aware of any outbreak of this virus at the hirer’s site at which you are ordinarily assigned (if any), we will notify you as soon as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
